Kia Ora guys, first time poster, long time Steamers fan recently transplanted to Wellington from Tauranga.
Is anyone from the Mafia going to be at the Steamers-Turbo match in Palmy? I'm making the trip (also for the matches at New Plymouth and Blenheim) and would rather sit with fans in blue and gold than green and white!

Welcome WellySteamer. I know of a Mafia Palmy dude who will be at the game, PM me and I can put you in contact with him. Also a mate of mine is going on his annual rugby trip to Palmy this weekend so there will be a group of Bay fans there with Fat Snapper Bay shirts (I think). They shouldn't be too hard to spot.
Is Bernie bored with Wellington and keen for the bright lights of Tauranga yet?

Welcome WellySteamer
I too am a Steamers fan living in Wgtn - except when BOP play Wgtn and then I feel a certain tug in both directions. I can report that Bernie is definitely missing the sunshine from the Mount ... the Wgtn weather just doesn't match up!!! However, he does keep a close eye on how the Bay boys are going. Hopefully we will see a good turnout to the Wgtn BOP game in Rotorua late August!!
I have just picked the Bay to beat the Turbos 12+ in my Telecom picks. The Turbos hooker is a goodie (a Marist St Pats Boy on loan to Manawatu) but I think your forwards should clean them up. Here's hoping.

He would be out of his depth in a carpark puddle.

Pre season Manwatu lost to the Bay, but they had the better of the forward clash that day. Believe it or not, the Bay lineout has got WORSE during the season from that game too, where Simpkins was throwing...
Bring back short lineouts - 2 man jobbies, that'll fuck teams up!!

Irish commentator - "the worst Australian side I have ever seen. Robbie Deans does not have a backup player in almost every position"

There's a flaw in that plan - it still requires our hookers to be able to throw the ball somewhere in the general direction of a lineout...
