I'm sure you've noticed that we've made some big changes to the front page recently, but we've also been making some changes to the forum. Generally these have been small changes related to ease of use.

We wanted to give you guys the opportunity to offer some suggestions about anything that needs improving. Is there something that's bothered you about how the forum software works, for example?

Or is there something we could add to the site that we're missing?

We have quite a few lurkers here too, which is great, but we'd like to encourage people browsing the forum to join in the banter as well. Is there anything we can do to make that easier? Some forums also have a welcome area where new users introduce themselves and get a handle on the site rules, and all that stuff.

So fire away :)

Also, I've opened up this area so you don't need to register to answer.

Yea, hi, I'm Hooroo, Long time listener, first caller.

I hate it how you can't hit the back button to leave a thread you don't wish to contribute to.

Fix it Now!!!! :)

I know I have mentioned it in the Mods forum but was wondering if it irks others or just a Hooroo pet-hate

Think thats something that is nice. Something similiar like Barts spotlight one. For some reason it came to a standstill but every member should do that one.

I get nagged less by my wife, just so you know :)

Do you mean if you go into a thread, read it and decide not to post you can't use the back button from there? I just tried it on IE7, Firefox and Chrome and it works fine for that.

Yeah, I enjoyed those too. Maybe we could turn that into a forum area and people fill in a template?

I am not a fan of the thread titles turning grey once you have been in them, even if new posts are added they stay grey.

You used to be able to go (for example) CTRL-B to bold or CTRL-I to italicise selected text in the quick reply box, now it brings up some browser thing I never use.

Try ALT-B and ALT-I instead.

I think I got something similar working, someone had already asked for this. Click on the Sports category, see if that's close enough.

I was wondering if it was possible to activate the feature (assuming this phpBB software can do it) that allows you to go into your settings and change the number of posts per page. I notice it seems set at an unchangeable default of 25 which might be fine for some but I myself prefer to set it higher. I have the luxury of a 100Mbit fibre optic line so page loading speed is not an issue.
I like to see as much as possible on one page, makes reading long threads a lot easier.

xzxgood

cheers.

Not out of the box no, but there is a mod for it if other people want it too. To help you out a bit in the meantime, I've upped it from 20 to 30.

I guess guys in NZ will probably be happy with status quo and fellas like me overseas - sucking on the fat pipe, might like the option of more.

For some reason the Insert Link icon does not load for me.

More frustratingly I can't figure out how to make tables work. There is a wrap table tags button in the advanced posting options, but the table row and table data tags don't seem to be supported.

Everything on the same line as the table tag is hidden, no table.

Quote

table data

table data

Quote

table data
1

table data
1

HTML doesn't work either

Quote

<table><tr><td>table data</td></tr></table>

<table><tr><td>table data</td></tr></table>

Has anyone figured out how to display tables in the new forum?
