And it puts comments like this from Henry in context (from Stuff);

Quote

Henry also praised Tialata's late-season revival which has seen him re-emerge as the side's first-choice tighthead.

"He's been responsible for that... He's got himself in great shape – the best shape he's been in since he's played international rugby. He's looked after himself and got himself right.

"We've probably showed him a bit of love too – and he likes that," added Henry.

Good to hear, many on here ( myself included ) consigned him to the scrapheap but sounds like he has really done the business. Our TSF front rowers would be able to tell more than me but he's being picked for the toughest test of the EOYT. Says it all really.

Funny videos. I still think he is keeping the jersey warm for young Owen Franks who in 12 months time will have cemeted a starting place unless Zarg returns.

Tialata still has the 'play both sides' card up his sleeve though.

Yeah, even if Franks pushes him out of the starting jersey, Tialata will be a bench prop for as long as he can be motivated.

But how long can a player happily be on the bench?

These days you'd get plenty of starts. Not sure that Franks is a dead cert though, might have a wait a few years as the Cartel are very happy with Tialata - they go out of the way to compliment him.

Very true. But they've never called either the best in the squad at their position though, last player I can remember that for was way back with Nonu being the best 12. I remember us all laughing at that at the time.

Yeah unusal for coaches to be so nice to props, the way most of them are wired they respond better to stick rather than the carrot. Tialatas challenge IMO is to maintain his fitness and form from now on. It would be a disaster if he piled the weight back on during a few weeks R&R over summer which unfortunately large polynesian men with a liking for roast pork or fried chicken have a tendency to do. Isitola Maka reported for Highlanders training 15 kgs heavier after a short summer break to visit rellies in Tonga one year. Owen Franks has it all IMO, its only a matter of time before he breaks through.

That was pretty good viewing. Funny fulla.
