This is a real tough one. On one hand Oliver owned the decade through his continued presence and longevity, his captaincy, and his involvement in important games. Also, Oliver's smile in 2004 having reduced the French to conceding the scrum stands as one of the decades proudest instances. On the other hand Mealamu in 2003, and Hore in 2008 had periods of better form than he ever did IMO.

yeah Milk, a very tough one indeed. All hookers have had their moments at the throwing mark too, which is the core of core duties for your rake.
Been a pretty good ear for hookers though - all three, or four really, deserving of at least the nomination they have got!

I went for Oliver although could have easily voted for Kev. Just liked Olivers old school granite, even if his darts went awol at times. Mealamu has also played a huge role in many great test victories.
The most important player in any team is the tighthead prop. The second most important is the reserve tighthead prop.

Yeah, I voted for old Grenade Face too - his good was pretty good, and a good big man beats a good small man any day in my book!!

obviously Anton has a rep as the stronger scrummager of that lot, but did our scrum ever suffer when Mealamu or Hore were alongside Woody & Hayman?
I dont recall them doing so (although did hore play alot with Hayman?) in which case I'd be inclined to go with Mealamu over Oliver, who at his peak was as damaging with ball in hand as the SA battleship, and was as good if not better at throwing than Oliver ever was (not that that is saying much)

For a while there Hore was a waek link I thought, but probably more at Super level than at test level (his props Tialata and Schwalger for Canes probably as much problem as himself)! But I would still take an inform Oliver over Mealamu with Hore 3rd cab in the rank.

Oliver and Mealamu both ahead of Hore in the scrummaging stakes for me.

It's between Grenade-face and Mealamu for me, and I've gone for the boy from Tokoroa because he's never been dropped outright as Anton was.
