Do you mean Taniela Moa, the chunky ex-Auckland half-back who once was called into the AB squad as cover?

Or Lelia Masaga, the Flash, the former Counties man who has actually played for the ABs and is injured at present?

On his day, Masaga is spectacular - great pace and power and a very difficult man to tackle. He played just a single game for the ABs last season (I think) on the back of a stellar Super 14 and then went back to Counties. We signed him towards the end of last year when he was injured and he only made it back to the Chiefs for a few games before getting injured again. Hopefully Sportboy can give us an update on his fitness now as I'm sure we would all like to see him cutting up in a Bay jersey.

He's been battling a knee injury for a while now but expected to be over the worst of it and will probably be named on the bench for BOP for their final pre-season match against Taranaki in Whakatane on Friday.

INteresting stats in latest Rugby News. Taniela Moa led the 2009 comp in errors. Retallick up there for penalties conceeded and Delany near top of kick and run metres while Bourke, Braid and Latimer also in among the top for hit ups, tackles and breakdowns respectively.

Seeing a surgeon for a ruptured tendon in his thumb today, likely to be out for 5-6 weeks.

And some good news... Masaga having surgery at the end of the season instead, just going to strap it up in the meantime. Available to play against Waikato. Woo hoo!!

Now that's cheered me up - I read some story about an idiot selling Bay vuvuzelas and was depressed for a while there!
