Injured All Black set to avoid shoulder surgery
Injured All Blacks utility back Richard Kahui is set for an earlier than expected return to rugby.
The crocked utility back could be back on the field in three to four weeks' time, according to All Blacks doctor Deb Robinson.
The 25-year-old saw a shoulder specialist in Auckland yesterday after injuring his right shoulder in the All Blacks' first Tri-Nations test win over the Springboks in Auckland.
There were fears he could be a long-term casualty, given the seriousness of the injury and the fact he'd previously had surgery on the same shoulder.
"Richard sustained a small fracture of the shoulder socket but the good news is that the injury is stable and improving rapidly and, at this stage, he doesn’t require surgery,'' Robinson said.
''Richard is now concentrating on strengthening work and rehabilitation and we will monitor him with an aim of getting him back into rugby in three to four weeks’ time.''
The All Blacks will assemble in Melbourne this weekend to prepare for the first test against Australia on Saturday July 31, with the return test against Australia the following weekend in Christchurch.
Good news, So potentially he could be back for the trip to south africa and the 3rd Bled game.
I wonder if they will bring him straight back in or stick with the players they have already.
