We were lucky, bank the 2 points and look forward to next week.

The forwards looked pretty good, but the backs, aside from my man of the match, Foutualii, looked pretty average. Lucky for us , Ryan Crotty went off early otherwise I suspect a few more midfield breaks would have set up a few more Cantab tries. Rooney was decidedly average, and I hope hes given a chance on the bench next week! Im not sure what McLeod did to get the starting berth at 2nd five. He must have had a blinder against Manawatu, because he wasn't sighted against Taranaki in the pre-season. Although Im not a big fan of Buckman, I thought he did reasonably well. Shoemark's dithering in clearing a kick coat us a try by Umaga-Marshall. Hopefully Timu comes into calcs next week at centre and Shoemark moves inside him.

The game was there for the taking, but we don't help ourselves when you lose a player to the bin for an idiotic late charge.

One annoying thing was the constant reference to Hawkes Bay as "the Pies" by Sumo Stevenson on the commentary. Hopefully others don't pick up on that, and he needs to study the players. Calling Grant Webb, Leighton Price while he was on was bloody annoying!

Anyway, on and up, roll on BOP, and lets fire the boys up at the Park next Friday.

How bad is Hika's knee. He is tough as Kanuka so I wouldnt imagine he would enjoy coming off early.

And young Daniel.. Has he figured out its saturday yet. Horrell looked fine at 1st 5 and McLEOD looked better as the game went on at 2nd. The midfield stiffened up in the 2nd half. Your fullback never improved after the winger and No8 sat him on his arse.

Thought their No8 looked like the guy ATKINS form a few years past.

IT was leaking outside Shoemach surprisingly. Makes more sense now figuring out how we managed 5 past you guys in the preseason.

two early injury losses.

Bloody tough game though. Both sides will be fielding the bruises. Good luck with the physio mid week.

Here is the one from the Canterbury point of view. From it there appears to have only been one team on the field most of the time

There are three things I always forget. Names, faces - the third I can't remember.
