Best sports commentator (overall) in sports.

Actually I'm enjoying the com. team tonight.

What have you got against him?

Honestly.... i have had a few, but I am tired of Smiths commentary.. I would rather have Mex back.. at least he has an understanding of the game....
Smith for my money is there due to his ability NOTto have a brain fart.. certaininly not for his insight in to the game ....

He is just bloody annoying and not that clued up regarding rugby.... (and I acknowledge this is only my opinion) just wanted to see what others though really...

also anyone know what Drews first card was for? i haven't seen a replay yet???

I have the aussie crew on my t.v. it's classic listening to them bag the Wobblies.

I used to really enjoy Smithy but lately haven't been enjoying his comments so much. Still a lot better than some of them.

I don't think we ever got a replay of Mitchell's first offence (replays are something that's been missing from tonights coverage - we seem to get a lot more when the games are in NZ).

Shoulder charge, "Same as for Black before". Don't know why they never showed a replay, could possibly be because it was late and wasn't picked up by the cameras clearly.

Can't fucking stand Nisbo or Smithy, their bias, the amount of players they get wrong and the amount of things they miss is annoying as hell to watch - particularly Nisbo. If it weren't for Marshy I'd honestly rather listen to the Aussies or Hugh Bladen

Just keep him away from Hawkes Bay games and he's ok.

agree with Shark. Those Hawke's Bay commentators seem to have a chip on both shoulders.

Yeah, what was up with the lack of replays tonight? Crap coverage by Fux Sports in that regard.

Where is Murray Meathead these days? I miss him. He was a bit average at times, but surely not bad enough to give the ass. At least he knew his rugby.

Can't stand Smith. He has a terrible voice and is "emphatic" to the point of histrionics. He can be like a guy in the pub who gets all wound up telling a story that goes no where.

I really cannot stand Nisbo. He always uses the same old clichés and is just incredibly boring. "Now the race is on" especially irks me for some reason lol
I was lucky enough to get the Aussie commentators, I'd take them any day of the week. Despite their complaining they do inject a little humor.

The same way Cooper should be kept away from all Waikato games. I was sure he was going to run out on to the field and suck Messams cock at one stage.

For what its worth i think Rod Kafer is the best commentator (although Fox just use him for expert comments) going around. Has good insight into actual tactics, and is always fair and unbiased. And best of all, not afraid to tell Clarkie, Kearns and Marto they are talking shit.

yeah nesbo and smithy may be biased but so too are the ozzie commentators, Kafer is head and shoulders above that average commenting team and is strictly neutral too and knowledgeable. I fucking HATE Mathew Cooper, baron is right he did want to suck Messams and anyone in a red, black and yellow jumper's cock lastnite has been great to hear him chewing his tongue off for the last 5 or so years, total cock...

"Biased commentators... in MY rugby?!" *tear*

Smithy's a quality broadcaster who's composed behind a mic, and makes sound judgement calls nine times out of ten.

What is the general feeling on Marshall as a commentator?

I get the feeling he's not entirely comfortable yet, but he is improving. Miss Foxy though.

At the moment he is the best commentator in my opinion. He actually provides analysis and describes what actually happens during play. Not bad for a Southland bogan.

Should've heard the radio commentary then Baron. It was so bad it was mildly funny.

Paul Martin: "And who's that come on for Luke Braid? Looks like it must be Phil Burleigh. [Long pause]. Oh, sorry, maybe it's Aidan Kuka.
Kevin Hart: "Think you'll find it's Solomon King, Paul".

Hart: "Too-or-oh [Tuoro]."
Paul: "Oh yeah, he had a pretty good season last year if I remember right."

I like SMithy (agree, not at Hawke's games, like Cooper at Waikato games). Marshall getting better and better, he is going to be good. The rest - Nisbo and co, have their days. Fox, like him too.

Yeah, I'm glad the next world cup is being played here, we have the best match coverage by far (angles, replays etc.). A lot of the match coverage was crap in 07 (homo slowmo close up shots etc.).

I'm all for Smithy, he is class. Fox is good, Marshall is pretty good and will improve with time. Would like to hear him reunited with Merht's.

I note that Channel 7 were using Stu Wilson as their sideline comments man on Saturday.

I like Smithy's commentary. Also like Melanie Robinson, John Preston, Richard Turner, Nisbo and surprisingly Ken Labans.
Can't stand Sumo's he's going for Humour but all I hear is Hum and its really annoying.
Hey sky here's an idea, you show the games on two channels so why not have two sets of commentators?

yeah sky doesnt hardly ever have the 2 different commentaries going anymore either e.g when you could switch between the oz or nz commentary team during a bled cup game, i wanted to hear what marto and kearnsy had to say during the thumping their beloved team was taking on sat nite haha

Smithy is the most biased commentator / anchor I have ever heard.

He makes the Aussie look meek and mild.

Some of his comments when SA were in NZ were downright pathetic. Why does he need to be condascending? Fuck off back to cricket.

As for Stu Wilson? What's he doing on Aus TV. Did you guys throw him out? I would.

Never been a fan of Smith's commentary, and barely stand him when he does the cricket as well. He seems to get so worked up and becomes like a blithering fool. His post-game interviews are embarressing for the most part. Nisbett, TJ and Smith really need to take the eye patch off without the hysteria.

Marshal can now join Smith in what is generally a circle jerk about the AB's, Sorry dont have a single nice thing to say about these very one eyed trying to please the NZ public so-called comments people.

Thats the biggest problem

His post victory interviews have a gloating edge to them. Often he doesn't even ask a question, he'll just make some biased statements and then shove the microphone at the player and beg for validation.
