You would expect Troy Woodman would go great guns at this level so I'm guessing he has gapped it back overseas. I wonder where Whiria Meltzer is...

Players that stood out for me were the prop Davis, the halfback and the first five. Brook Gilmore showed some nice touches and good strength at times but they didn't get him on the ball enough. Joel McKenty played the 2nd half and seemed to get through ok, hopefully he will be back for the top team this week.

He is trying to get the players to take some responsibility to get themselves fit, as he says they have the talent and skills, as showed by the shield challenge (he said) they got dealt to by Southland's fitness and blown away in the second spell. But he said most of them felt they didnt need to...
I think if some of these guys are serious about stepping up, they need to hit the road and get bloody fit, a number of them looked in the same or worse shape than me!
who was the halfback? Was that Wihongi?

That said, Pryor is supposedly the leading tackler in the comp, so tough to drop him for someone coming back from injury, he needs to play from the bench and make his claim from there IMO.
As to Davies, not sure what to do there, Wright is a great impact player, so would you slot him straight in? Alot of pressure being placed on him to solidify our scrum that has struggled.

With Davies, if he is better than Wallis, he has to start - given they still see Wright as impact.
If they are both "match fit" they just give us a better player mix.

I would have thought McKenty would have been back after playing the week before. Pryor has been handy for us, but I don't think he is close to the same class as McKenty...

He is a different player to McKenty, and IMO, fits the way we are playing so well (I'd add that his style is similar to Clutterbuck who'd also be revelling in this style)
He is apparently the leading tackler in the comp, coupled with the fact he misses so few tackles, his work on the deck isnt as good as McKenty, but he has made a couple of t/o's, but is complimented well by the rest of the pack picking up thier fair share.
Ideally, you start McKenty on the bench and get him to force his way in with performances, not by his reputation.
