Now the thread title has attracted you Cantrabians, do you lot remember the shite you used to give Los for his hair, the toffee pop ad, etc, bloody, etc

Now imagine he was on New Zealand's Next Top Model.

Except it's not, it's bloody Dan Carter.

Mate, even the wife groaned out loud when she saw it. So, yes, he looked like a dickhead.

Yep, she's not into him. She'd leave me in a heartbeat for Brad Pitt though. Which would leave Angelina free....

Well, I haven't been looking at them very closely, Mimic.

What about them?

Different strokes aye. My wife loves DC, Kahui and quite a few Scottish boys. Spencer and Brad Pitt can pretty much get fucked though.

I like Angelina too......

Dc hasn't had "Los's" ridiculous hairstyles but then Spencer has never opened a clothing shop to my knowledge so they're about neck and neck.

Merhts can't compete, all he did was grow some huge ginger homo handles and get a bit fat....

There was a really good little series that screened recently called "Extroadinary Kiwis. One of the episodes was a day in a life of DC presented by this metrosexual called Clarke Gayford. He went everywhere with Dan.... to the gym, interval running, kicking practice at Eden Park, to the physio.... and to a photo shoot. At the shoot Dan was having coco butter and layers of fake sweat rubbed on him. Gayford asked what the staunch Canty rugby public would think of that. And Carter with a huge smile on his face admitted it probably wouldnt go down so well! He also revealed when ABs gave him shit about his modelling he just fobbed them off with free pairs of undies. DC came across as a really decent down to earth bloke.

Yeah he actually kept up pretty well with DC I thought ! the man himself certainly didn't come across as up himself in the slightest, a very decent joker by the looks of things.

Yes always has come across really nice bloke to me. When I see the plethora of dickhead athletes in the US its really hard to come down hard on him. Good on him and good luck I say.

WTF is Carlos doing on NZ's next top model? I assume he's a judge, and not competing to become the next male Kate Moss?

Yes, even the All Blacks in that game from 2007 against France. We still should have won despite the ref, but didn't.

Yep, and that's the point. Carlos got tonnes of shite for doing exactly the same stuff as Carter does. Just hope the feral Cantabs will learn from this :)

To be fair, Dan didn't do any of this stuff when he was living in Leeston. It's only once he moved to Auckland to live...

He appears to have resisted the urge to tattoo himself - as has Richie - which is pretty unusual these days.

thats a good point! how many top level NZ players would be tattoo'd? It seems about 80% at a rough stab. I've not really paid attention to foreign players in that regard, is it similar?

JC is the only island boy I can think of without a bit of ink. He must be too tough.

Look at the NRL, a vast number of players from every team are covered with ink from asshole to breakfast. Commecially it probably woudnt suit Dans clean cut image for him to be tattooed. Regarding the mass tattooing of players IMO its due to having all that spare time and dispencible income on their hands. I bet a high number also own either a boat, Harley or classic car. I bet the percentages of rugby professional with one or all of those three would be quite high.

Remember Jerry being interviewed back in the JC/Rodders/Vanisi 'Canes loosie days, and they asked him why he didn't have dreads.

With that typical cheeky grin "cause i don't need them to get chicks aye" classic.

Typically in NZ we don't like flash ****s, and Carlos was most definitely one of those. Everything he did had that element of showmanship to it, and that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way (even me, when he was playing for Auckland. If he did it in a Black jersey, or even a Blues one, i fucking loved him for it). Dan gets off lightly because even though he isn't adverse to flashing himself around in his smalls, rubbing our face in how fucking flash his genetics are, he generally comes across with that "aw gee shucks" nice boy persona that people seem to love.

I remember when Carlos scored 5 tries against Otago (and had the ball on a string). It was one of the greatest performances I've ever seen.

On the drive home from Eden Park 1zb was on my friend's father's car radio - Murry Deaker spent about an hour bagging Spencer for giving the "pistols" to his fans in the crowd after scoring a try under the posts. That was all Deaker could go on about. I HATE MURRY DEAKER.

Um, surely the point would be that Carter backs it up ON THE FIELD? Nothing sillier than a flash can't.

Just hope the glitter-on-the-face Aucklanders will learn from this. ;
