Has been recalled by Auckland and may play this weekend in blue & white hoops

Interesting comments by Anscombe:

Quote

“When we sent him up there it was only ever going to be for about a six week programme,” Anscombe said.

“We couldn’t guarantee him game time at the start of the competition with what we had but we wanted him to experience game time. Northland were thin in that area (wingers) so it worked for both parties, but the instruction was always that he would be coming back within the six weeks.
First of all, is there a cut off after which a player cannot be recalled? I seem to remember something like that, so maybe they had to beat a six week deadline?

If it was to cover Ranger's AB involvement it's ended a bit short..

Personally I think loans should be for the full season but ultimately it's Northlands choice. Beggers can't be choosers etc :)

So only now it's said he would only be with Northland for six weeks! I could be wrong but I don't recall seeing that written anywhere prior to Heem coming to us..

Shows you what a crock this loan system CAN be, Heem will likely be back within a week or two..

Sounds like Anscombe is getting a bit nervy about his team, maybe Taranaki will hand them their backsides this week. :)

Yeah I found that comment suspect too. Although it is possible he was only meant to be around in the early part of the season when Ranger was elsewhere.

But basically Pakalani has been a bit disappointing so Heem is needed back home.

So does that mean we get Pakalani for the Canterbury game next week (with Ranger being in Sydney) ?...Hope not! Time for Brooke Gilmour to be re-instated me thinks..

not sure, but the following week for Canterbury...reckon they wont go outside the squad (unless they are told Heem wont come back) as they have Hauraki and Maleupo (?)

But Gilmore wold have to be the next cab off the ranks if they do go outside??

Yeah true that...

Corey Flynn and Sam Whitelock are in the Canterbury side this week so there's no reason why Ranger won't be available for us, here's hoping anyway..

Stuff.co.nz says they head out Sunday, so all should be sweet.

Well thats a bit of shit news isn't it. Well if I was working at the NRU I'd be putting a contract under Heems nose for next season, cause hes been awesome.
Anyone know how Derek Carpenters injury is coming along? as im pretty sure I saw him riding a bike today, If he is good I'd bring him back slide Bancroft to centre, shift Ranger to wing, Lachie to the other wing, & the Payne train/plane to fullback. Otherwise Brook Gilmour would be the man to bring back

pretty sure Carpenter is gone for the season.

I think McKenty must only be a week or 2 away )provided things have gone according to plan)

I like Payne at 13, reckon that is his position, he has the nous, defence, passing game, pace, the ability to ghost through a gap and vision, IMOOC

While I've thought Ranger is destined for 13, he is never gonna fit the traditional centre mould, in that if you get him doing most of the traditional 13 job, it would detract from what makes Ranger, well Ranger!

I must say though, I reckon this season we've seen a bit of maturity and some better decision making from Ranger, which youd have to say is all down to being in the AB environment?

Yeah I like Ranger still being on the wing as he still gets involved in almost everything

I thought Payne looked lost a few times on D against Wellington, rushed out of the line too many times for my liking. Apart from that he is looking very good there.
I can't help myself - tried my best and it goes against everything I believe in, but I can't. After all the whining about Joel Jutge on this site from the winning fans there's nothing left for me to do but.... WALTZING MATILDA, WALTZING MATILDA...

This loan system is bullshit, it should be for the whole season or not at all. Gimore is an able replacement though.

He and Bancroft did IIRC, assume rushing them was part of the gameplan?...Wellington's first try, had Payne really gone for the ball, most likely wouldnt have happened.

in 2008 Tevita Mailau played for Auckland then Northland and then recalled to Auckland, which is very wrong IMO.

I understand the loan system means that if a player is recalled and then plays for the lender he can't then play again for the borrower - eg he plays a few minutes for Auckland he can't play for Northland again this season!

think you will find it is McKenty in the dev squad...DC (taniwha version) am pretty sure is gone for the season

While Pryor has been pretty good, I think we have missed McKenty's physicality and work at the breakdown, if he makes it through this week, I expect McKenty should be on the bench for the Cantab game.

Heem should never have been signed. We had enough depth in the outside backs, all he did was take the place of a Northlander. Talented player no doubt, but unless he signs permanently for Northland I don't want to see him back. Fa'aunu as well, good player for Auckland last few season's but look's unfit and not match fit...so why did we sign him? We should be giving Northlander's these spot's...
