But the HB team (not 10000% confirmed but expected to be as follows) also looks a bit shaky, particularly if Daniel Kirkpatrick gets injured, there being no obvious cover (to me anyway) in the reserves for him.

12 Jason Shoemark (Captain)
11 Zac Guilford
10 Danile Kirkpatrick
9 Chris Eaton
8 Grant Webb
7 Trent Boswell-Wakefield
6 Mike Coman
5 Ross Kennedy
4 Bryn Evans
3 Anthony Perenise
2 Hika Elliot
1 Clint Newland
Reserves
16 Eugene Smith
17 Josh Keys
18 Leighton Price
19 Michael Johnson
20 Kahn Fotuali'i
21 Ryan McLeod
22 Sinoti Sinoti
Not considered
Andrew Horrell, Kaas Lealamanua and Karl Lowe (all injuries) and Israel Dagg (All Blacks)

Eaton - FFS.
McLeod - we already have someone who misses tackles and does nothing with the ball in attack, he's the bloody captain.
Two no.8s in the loosies, WTF?
Timu, did he drop a ball in training?
It would be nice if we had Kirkpatrick to back up Berquist, I'm sure he would benefit from a year spent with a guy who can actually run a game.
The Magpies just upset me these days.
In saying that I hope they finally put a big one together over their 2nd Div mates.
"it is not for me a question of whether Nepia was the best fullback in history. It is a question of which of the others is fit to loose the laces of his Cotton Oxford boots."
Rennie, Joseph, Russell, Penney, Hammett. The Mickey Mouse Canes keep rolling on.

I like the look of 1 to 8. Not so sure about the backs. Hopefully they got a bit more confidence last week after there first win, and can play accordingly

So the dust has settled and the Magpies went down in a close one. But, in reality, we were really off the pace. The backline continues to be dysfunctional, the forwards only competed, they didn't dominate. Basically my thoughts are the same as they've been all season.
Hika is a one man band out there.
The co-coach plan doesn't appear to be working, there is a clear lack of structure and leadership.
Shoemark has served us well, but he's not up to it anymore. With the season gone I think it's now time to give the young bucks a go in building for next season.
Rooney, Sinoti, and to a lesser extent Kahn have been a waste of space. Kahn's form probably a reflection of the team not him.
Johnson absence was reactionary and not based on form, he is the glue of the team despite his age.
Kirkpatrick can't run a game like Berquist can.

I didn't think I would ever say this - apart from Jackman, Eaton was the best back for HB.
I thought that Hika, Bosewell-Wakefield and Webb were OK in the forwards. With TBW as another lineout option, maybe Johnson can start at lock alongside Evans. Hoping Lowe gets well soon.

Another weekend, another disappointing game from the Magpies.
I can't see them winning again this season.

Come on, what about September 18. Surely we should have no trouble cleaning up the only team beaten by the only team we have beaten???????
