7. Openside Flanker - 2011 TSF TOTY Nomination

If you disagree with a nomination then this thread is your chance to do so – you must say WHY though: furnish reasons for your disagreement! (Or run the risk of deletion!).
Debate at this stage of the process is encouraged.
Polls will be put up later listing nominations’ pros and cons.
(Clarifications:
We're looking for a blindside flanker, not necessarily the player who plays in No.6. Some less educated rugby playing nations play their 7 in 6, i.e., South Africa.
Also, some Nations play a left right 2 x 6.5 type system (i.e., France) ... we'll work that one out as we go)

But McCaw Vs Meads, that's a debate worth having. It's been such a privilege to have such an amazing player and such an outstanding individual as All Black captain.

Reason: Won a RWC on one foot, with a bruised knee from some dirty Frenchman's head and a finger in his eye. If that wasn't enough, he performed a steal with a forward somersault.

We obviously don't have an Irish on here anymore. While he isn't what we expect from and openside, Sean O'Brien is a very destructive rugby player. Bulldozer in contact, he tackles and runs like a madman. The best Irish player on display at the World Cup, and absolutely owned the Aussies.

And was second best to Warburton in the QF.

I think you might want to look again. I did
1. Gethin Jenkins (wasn't the only person nominating him)
3. Adam Jones
5. Luke Charteris
7. Sam Warburton (a distant third behind Richie McCaw)
8. Toby Faletau (in a three way fight with Donkey and Read)
9. Mike Phillips (wasn't the only person nominating him, and had him behind Piri Weepu)
10. Rhys Priestland (a distant second behind Dan Carter)
11. Shane Williams (behind Vincent Clerc)
12. Jamie Roberts (wasn't the only person nominating him)
14. George North (wasn't the only person nominating him, and had him behind Beiber)
So nominated 10 and will vote for 5.

For what its worth i agree with probably 7 of the players you nominated. Which isn't bad considering Wales went 7-5 in games that meant something this year.

Fair enough. Missed the invisible
Yeah a good year for Wales all things considered. Hopefully we cap it off nicely on Saturday.
