The Nominees for the fullest back are (in no particular order):

BEALE, Kurtley AUS
Pros
  • Without him, Australia are almost crap. With him, they are brilliant.
  • Inhalation of breath when he gets the ball. Not many of his ilk in 2011 test rugby
Cons
  • None listed
DAGG, Israel NZL
Pros
  • became the 1st choice 15 for the All Blacks, looking like a new amazing star. A lot.
  • Give him another year as the main man, I expect he will start to make better decisions which will open holes for him or others around him
  • a fantastic player
  • He's our Beale - immensely talented...
  • excitement machine
Cons
  • is a bit selfish at times.
  • injured for most of the year.
  • “chose the wrong boots in the changing rooms!”
  • Give him another year as the main man, I expect he will start to make better decisions which will open holes for him or others around him
  • big mistake in final that game about 30mins in when he ignored an overlap outside him cut back inside an let Jane run into traffic. I reckon Nonu and Kahui (I think?) would have finished a try given the space. I hope he shouted Donald a lot of beers because the NZ public would have been looking for a scapegoat if things didn't work out
  • wing may be his true position
  • He's our Beale - immensely talented but incredibly selfish at times.
  • s a tendency to go for his own opportunities rather than look for support. Classic case was 14 point try in the Final with 2 on 1 outside him. Gave the turnover resulted in France's try.
FODEN, Ben ENG
Pros
  • Shining light in the darkness of HQ
  • Only knows one direction, forward.
Cons
  • none listed
HALFPENNY, Leigh WAL
Pros
  • “I thought he was the best FB in the World Cup”
  • penetrative on attack
  • safe on defense
  • kicks long penalties
Cons
  • came up short on the most important long penalty
