Chiefs up 17-0 halftime. Alex bradley 2 tries, Kerr Barlow 1. Cruden conv. Messam has massive ice on his Achilles and didn't start.

Are the Chiefs rocking it, or are the Rebels just really shit?

Rebels should not be that shit. They made some decent signings in the off season.

Why we like Alex Bradley....At the hotel bar having a couple of beers, boys-you won't believe what happened to me at the after match function, kurtly Beale came and ate next to me and asked me how I enjoyed the game, man that was cool.Brads, good on ya mate.

Good result for the Chiefs. With a new coach and some new players, it was always going to be important getting off to a positive start.
As for the Rebels, I think they will once again come last in the Australian conference in 2012. Sure they signed some classy backs, but IMO they still have the weakest pack in Super Rugby.

First couple of pre-season game can be pretty meaningless but I saw Beale made an interesting comment about the Chiefs tactics in an interview. He said they gave the ball a lot less air than previous Chiefs sides and they played a more direct style
So maybe Rennie will move them away from the fluffy play that Foster was obsessed by.

That's a given. The biggest difference will be in how the forwards are expected to play, and the squad was picked with that in mind (eg: Bradley vs. Bourke). There will be an attitude change in the players with the low numbers as the coaches won't tolerate forwards spending most of their time out in the backline.

I was really impressed with the forward pack all round, scrum time and line out. Rebels had it on us at the start 6 penalties to 0, but we held them out. We also missed 12 points via the boot, mainly Cruden but he looked very hesitant around the field (fair enough), very impressed how we actually played a forwards game, seldom the forwards were in the back line. We've got some big boys that's for sure. Also Robbie Robinson-holy shit that kid is fast, he looked the goods big time. Defense wise we were bloody staunch, looking good. Fingers crossed it wasn't a one off, the chiefs look like a happy camp though, all coming over to the crowd and thanking them while the coaches were walking around patting them on the back etc.....by the way, Wayne Smith looks good in a chiefs polo shirt
