bugger. For the good of the Chiefs, that bloke assaulted should press charges.

be patient Bart - he'll fuck it up somewhere along the line. How about a high shot in the first few minutes against the saders and another few weeks rest?
usually experience is something you get just after you need it
to be fair, if the bar owners account of events are accurate Lauki has every right to stay in the squad. Does beg the question, suspension or not, what was he was doing in a nightclub/bar at the time before a game.

He was on suspension so he went out knowing he wasn't going to play. Don't see an issue with him being out.

There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and a biased report
Except you would have to question his commitment to the cause. The guy is way overweight and is notorious for struggling with to keep match fit during his numeorus injury layoffs. The last thing he should be doing is hitting the piss when he cant play. He should be watching every single calorie, training his arse off and generally doing everything he can to become fighting fit for when he returns to the field. Late nights on the turps do not generally assist large Polynesian endomprph males get into peak physical condition.
Unfortunately Sione is never going to change his spots. Weve seen a clear pattern emerge throughout his career. I get pissed off when I see guys paid big money to play and they cant be arsed putting everything into it. I would rather have a Kieran Read or Reuben Thorne in my team anyday over a Sione type who blows hot and cold. At least Reuben put his heart and soul into everything he did.

IN OWEN FRANKS WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS PAY CASH.
It wasn't just Lauaki, most of the squad who weren't playing the next night were all out.
Were they all pissed off their trees though, or was it a dorty dirty dinner and a couple of quiets??
Anyway...
so obviously a Chiefs fan was assaulted, as he is pressing charges and hopefully the fat cat will be gutted and thrown out with the trash. In regards to Sione Lauaki, the outcome of last week’s incident investigated by police has resulted in a charge of assault being laid today.
The Chiefs and Sione will not be making any comment until after this matter has been through the court process. Lauaki will also be taking part in NZRU and Chiefs disciplinary processes.

i know it's been asked and answered a thousand times before, but wtf ails these guys that they can't stay out of this kind of trouble? to get to be a pro athlete for a few precious years of your life- you'd think that would be enough to motivate a few more of these clowns to keep their noses clean.
Breeding All Black fans since 2007!
there are what - 2 bad eggs (repeat dickheads) maybe among the NZ franchises - 2 out of 150 or so players. That is not a bad percetnage of berain deads, when you consider the are playing a sport where physical prowess is up there among the requisites, not the ability to recite pi to 300 places...!

There is more than 2 Bart and we have to remember that we only hear about stuff that is so bad that it makes it in to the media. These guys get all the advice and direction from a young age, and someone with a record like Lauaki should have self-imposed 10pm curfew.
I'll never forgive Lauaki for his performance in Sydney in 2008 where he almost single handedly guided the Aussies to victory.
Some say I'm cunning enough that I could stretch an ants arse over a jam jar.

was thining of Rene Ranger belting people up, and Sione, belting people up off the top of my head. I am sure there are others also, but not many serial offenders - and Ranger would, at this stage, not be a serial, just young dumb and full of youthful exuberance!

Jimmy Cowan, Adam Thomson, Sitiveni Sivivatu are all AB's who've been in assault trouble in recent years. Kaino got DIC'd. Weepu got in trouble banging on a window in Wellington. Nonu got diversion for something else. Dane Coles got in trouble for being an alcohol pest. There are doubtless a whole heap of others but the majority involve alcohol and being out late at night.

serial offenders though, the dummies who have not learned their lessons - I think all of those blokes have 'done their time' so to speak, and are now clean (for want of a better word).
Mils Muliaina pissing in a bar (but then, who hasn;t) about 2 million years ago also, Doug Howlett haka-ing a car. But most of these have been one offs.
Cowan was a few though beore he plain stopped drinking I believe to stop the problem.

I've been thumped before by a guy I got on with, but as soon as he had beer inside him, he was violent and agressive...the night he hit me form behind, he got dealt to by one of my bigger mates...he did go on to play some pro footy in the front row too....
Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true.
These are just the ones that are made public. I am sure there are plenty that are brushed under the covers and made to go away. I personally know a Police officer who was heavily "persuaded" by his seniors to make a domestic violence case against a Super 14 player go away. Excuses like "He’d been to a court session" and "it could ruin his future" were thrown around. My mate put it nicely when he said "I’ve been to plenty of court sessions but never felt the need to come home and beat up my Mrs"<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o

Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident!
yeah there will be heaps covered up, but then in 'real life' I am sure there are many like that too - but not AS many I am sure. The boozing pranks and the like, sure cover up. Domestic violence, get fucked, who cares if it 'ruins their future'. actions and consequences have to be learned at some stage by everyone!

why? Rugby isn't about becoming a nun and locking yourself away.. you're still allowed to have a life ain't ya? No different from me or you working all week and going out to have a few beers on a Friday night.
it's not a 'chiefs issue' non players having beers before a game has occurred since the beginning of time.
Wherever you go...
the only issue Willie, in this day and age, is the amount of beers. Obviously fat guts had more than a couple.

I saw him about 1am, and he didn't seem that drunk. The reports of him being so drunk that he was staggering down the street was bullshit. It would be interesting to also have a look at the other guy and see what actually lead to it happening. Not taking away what Lauaki has done, but the fact was it was Beerfest of O'week, the messiest night of a messy week and there were ALOT of drunk pricks out.
Also speaking of the non players going out for drinks, I find no issues with it. As long as they face up and do their training commitments the following day going out for a few with the fellow dirty dirtys is all good.
well i disagree. If you are committed to the cause and can't get through a 13 week season, even as part of the wider squad without going out the night before a game well i have no sympathy for you. You are asking for trouble. I bet the saders weren't out on the piss the night before a big game. Take Brad Thorn as a great example. And what do ya know they have 7 super titles. landers are basically shite and what do ya know day after a hiding in SA their most experienced player breaks curfew. What a surprise they lost 33 nil.

Pretty simple if your attitude before a game is lets go out until gods knows what in the morning, well i struggle to see how committed you will be to the cause on the field. In Lauaki's case he is capt. gets suspended and first home game of the season on the eve of it he is out on the piss. fuckin winner written all over him, yeah right!
