    Default Kahui gone - again

    new shoulder injury...

no further detail at this stage on details but it happened when Waikato scored the last try when he popped the ball off the ground.

    not a happy camper.

FFS!!! Man this is such a shame. He must be contemplating to give it away surely? Is he never not injured. Feel for the guy. Just hope he can get fixed and finally get an extended run together of game time.

Remember Conrad Smith going through a similar period of one disaster after another? He has managed to come back OK so there is hope.

But it seems there is toilet paper that is tougher than Kahui.

But surely there are only so many times you can damage your shoulders before it starts to become a risk of future crippling...poor dude, he's been pretty unlucky.

Nah he is young, has heaps of time to reahb and get back on the field. Just needs to be patient and managed correctly. Bummer for Waikato though. We need him big time.

it's just a matter (just!!) of keeping him in the right head space and not to just get plain pissed off and throw in the towel as per the big ginga lock whose name evades me at the moment - James Ryan???

Hard to imagine Kahui wanting to throw the towel in now with 2011 just around the corner.

Yep, plenty of visits/phonecalls from cartel and AB team mates. The guy has thrived in the AB squad.

WTW - I know he's had a fair few injuries over his time, but has he ever had a whole shoulder reconstruction or just minor surgery? Reason I ask, I have a mate that had major shoulder issues (he was a US wrestler) and he just used to fix the problem temporarily by have minor procvedures done. Until finally he had a whole reco and had very little problems thereafter.

No wonder the cartel were keen to have SBW come back to NZ to try out for the ABs...

look at Benji's shoulder injuries - he had several major ones and has still bounced back. I really hope that Kahui can make it back, he's shown some real promise in his limited appearances this year.

First of all - we don't know how serious this one is.

Secondly, he's young and may just need to get it fixed once and for all.

    What's that meant to mean?

Anyway, sucks that he's injured again but sadly, it was kinda inevitable. I assume he's, at best, gone for the rest of the season. Hope he makes it back for the S14 and Foster doesn't turn him back into shit...

Its bad luck but at some point selectors throw in towel. I feel like that was the case with Leon MacDonald. Probably have to invest heavy into Ranger and SBW.

all of a sudden after one game and an injury to another player SBW becomes close to a certainty for the EOYT if he stays fit.

think SBW was always a certainty, and Fruen looks the goods for a spot too...Kahui could be on the 1st plane to Europe if he doesnt get back soon enough

I'm a lot less sold on Fruen right now, I think hes a couple of years away. Great with running with ball in hand but terrible at linking up. Kind of early Laulala, Natnan Mauger mold.

Kid's young though. But has a lot of upside. Will be one of the players pushing to get into the AB squad post 2011.

Nah Kahui has the Cartel in his corner - they picked him after his worst S14 season ever and he played superbly. He'll be hanging around hoping for a RWC spot. Fruen doesn't have the D (yet) or the versatility.

There weren't many utility sub options at the time. Toeava was injured and Ellison had just gone offshore

Now he gets injured just as Toeava is getting back to fitness and Ranger may get the chance to prove he can cover centre at Test level. Throw in SBW and room for Kahui in future squads is looking limited.

Absolutely, it's a bugger of a time for him to get injured, but even as a fan of Ranger I'd rather have Kahui on the wing or at centre in the RWC final - and there's always the possibility Toeava and Kahui keep SBW out of the squad eh!
