Thread: Curragh The Clown?

    Default Curragh The Clown?

Was having a chat to a few mates last week who mentioned they heard an article on the sports news that Jeremy Curragh
was quoted as saying if the Steamers were to be removed from the npc ( before 14 tean annoucment ) then so be it.

WTF was this all about? I missed hearing it and was hoping it was told to me incorrectly, anyone else hear anything like this?

Seems strange we all the other unions that were going to be under the hammer were fighting tooth and nail to stay in the competition when we have a CEO prepared to roll over.

I think it is because we have an accountant as a CEO instead of a rugby fan.

    I dont mind that.

BoP weren't in the gun though so he could say whatever he liked. Apart from one or two years of average financial performance they have excelled in the Air NZ Cup. Two decent sized cities to choose from, a healthy club system, good devt, good results...they would never have been in doubt. If BoP were a decent show of being in that bottom 4 and getting stuck in the proposed purgatory division he may have had a different view. At least by publicly saying they would take the decision he was keeping the NZRU happy and on side, rather than risk alienating them for no benefit to BoP rugby.

Yes I actually think he is acting in the best interests of BOP rugby. That just happens to mean going against some other G9 allies.. which I am uncomfortable with.
